ALAJUELA TO PROMOTE TOURIST ZONE

Nine districts in Alajuela are joining forces to attract more tourists to the region to the western part of the Central Valley Costa Rica, including natural, cultural, and historic attractions. The regional tourist boards as well as the municipalities met with the Costa Rica Tourism Institute (ICT), to market this area of the country. The districts involved are Alajuela, Grecia, Atenas, Palmares, San Ramón, Naranjo, Poás, Valverde Vega and Alfaro Ruiz. The Tourism Minister, Carlos Ricardo Benavides, reminded everyone that there are particular attractions in each district of Costa Rica, like the volcano in Poás, guided tours through the coffee plantations in Naranjo, the historic areas of Alajuela, the park in Alfaro Ruiz, and the festivals in Palmares. Marco Vinicio Rodríguez, president of the Western Municipalities Federation of Alajuela, emphasized the ecological, rural and health tourism of both conventional and adventurous natures.
